POPCORN is a women-first space. This means: men with a Basic account can’t send the first message to women or couples. This helps prevent spam and keeps conversations higher quality.
Here’s how it works:
- Women and all upgraded members can send a first message anytime—even without a match.
- Men with a Basic account can only send a first message if:
- they match with their own gender, or
- they upgrade their account.
Still blocked with a subscription?
Then the recipient’s message filters are preventing your DM. In this case, you can send a Sticker—a charming signal sent with Community Points (earned or purchased).

Even without DMs, you can stand out! Use the News Feed, Threads, Live Chats, Photo Challenges, or Treasure Hunts to get noticed—sometimes even before sending that first message.
